Gallbladder disease and age

gallbladder, liver, pancreasIn the past, gallbladder disease has been associated with older patients. It was typical for gallstones to show up in patients in their 50’s or 60’s. Recent data shows that the occurrence of gallstones and, therefore gallbladder removal surgery, is trending to lower age groups.  Why? Could this be another consequence of our diets?
