Seniors and Obesity

fat linesObesity is a “growing problem” (no pun intended) for Americans of all ages, and seniors are not an exception. The Centers for Disease Control reports that about 35% of adults aged 65 and over were obese in the period 2007–2010, and these numbers have almost certainly increased in the past decade.

Medical obesity is a serious threat to a senior’s health, making it more likely for them to become a victim of heart disease, diabetes, joint problems or even depression. If you have struggled with weight and have failed on diet, exercise or other programs, weight loss surgery might be an option.  Medicare patients may very well be covered for weight loss surgery in many situations. Only a complete evaluation by a qualified physician can determine this. You can find out if you qualify by scheduling an appointment with our office.
