The path to weight loss success

fat linesMany patients seeking bariatric surgery are depressed and skeptical about weight loss programs in general; often they have tried multiple diets that simply do not work.  While weight loss surgery may be the best (or the only) alternative open to some patients, our practice does not assume that this is true. Instead, we sit down with each patient and analyze their current nutritional intake and physical activity level, formulating a nutritional plan that serves as a blueprint for weight loss success.

Patients are educated about dietary intake, physical activity, behavior modification, and strategies to implement their changes whether they do or do not have weight loss surgery. Our nutrition and wellness appointments educate patients about dietary intake, physical activity, behavior modification, and strategies to implement their changes as a new lifestyle and not a diet.

We often work with the professionals in the Bariatric and Weight Care program at AdventHealth of Daytona Beach. This program can help patients decide which bariatric treatment is right for them, and it offers a range of supportive services to help overcome social and mental roadblocks. Continuing care helps keep you motivated.

Our practice is happy to make you aware of all of these treatment options, including weight loss surgery procedures like the gastric sleeve and gastric bypass. If you have any question about bariatric surgery, laparoscopic bariatric surgery or any other area included in general surgery, please contact our office. You may use Contact Dr Birkedal or phone us at (386) 210-9794. Our offices, located in Daytona, New Smyrna and Palm Coast are all part of the AdventHealth Medical Group.
