The revolutionary laparoscope

surgeryThe laparoscope has brought about a revolution in many surgical procedures. Operations that once required large incisions are now done through small “keyholes.”  Pain, scarring, infection risk and hospital recovery time have all been reduced.  For example, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal surgery) once required an open incision in the patient’s abdomen and at least several days of hospital recovery time. Today, that operation is done through a few small openings, and many patients have it done as outpatient surgery, going home that very day.

Our website has a number of informative video presentations about laparoscopic surgery procedures including laparoscopic thyroid surgery, laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery and others. If you have been advised that surgery may be needed, you should educate yourself about these modern techniques.  You can view these presentations by clicking Surgery Videos, and find out about the wonders of a modern laparoscopic surgery suite by reading our past article, “Room Full of Miracles.”
