Where Does the Weight Go?

exerciseHave you ever wondered what happens to the weight you lose? Where do those lost pounds go, anyway? This might seem like a strange question, but it should be near and dear to the hearts of many doctors. Before going to medical school, a lot of physicians and surgeons began their undergraduate studies as biochemistry students, a common pre-med major.

At the heart of biochemistry is this statement: “Combustion to carbon dioxide and water is typical of organic compounds.” That is a very simplified explanation of what happens to the weight you lose. How do you get from C55H104O6 (that is the formula for human fat) to plain old H2O and CO2? Go over to Google and enter the query term, “The mathematics of weight loss by Ruben Meerman.”

You will see an entertaining YouTube explanation of the question, “Where Does the Fat Go?” It will also give you some sound advice, “Move More, Eat Less.”

Closer to home, if you have had trouble losing that C55H104O6 you carry around, please take the time to investigate the program found at  Bariatric and Weight Care at AdventHealth.
